For some time now I have been using mobility scooters from shopmobility, at first I was reluctant to do so but gave in when I realised getting around the shops etc was so much easier, since the latest visit to the specialist I am of the opinion that it will be a long haul until I am better able to get about.
My decision is to look into the possibility of getting my own scooter, this would free me to go to other places which right now are denied me. The caveat being that I can collapse it and get it into the back of our car, it therefore has to be easily dismantled, the heavy bits i.e.: the batteries, rear axle and motor have to be manageable, it needs to have a reasonable range be able to travel over grass and gravel (just in case) plus have a comfortable seat.
I have discovered there are dozens of machines on the market at all sorts of prices, so far I have not found anything that matches most of my criteria, a couple of places are on the lookout for me.
I have been sort of spoiled my friend Jan who has one which pretty much ticks all my boxes, I have subsequently found this model is discontinued (bummer). Still I am in no real hurry to get one as winter is approaching and I am unsure just how much use I would get from it, however should the right one be found then its all systems go. The future is bright the future is Mobility.
